Video – A Guitar that ranges from Jazz to World Music
On Friday 11 February 2022 at the TIQU/Teatro Internazionale di Quartiere, in Piazza Cambiaso 1 in Genoa, an evening dedicated to Eugenio Montale, forty years after his death, was held with the performance of the Genoese jazz group Esperanto and that of the actors Mercedes Martini and Alberto Giusta, teachers of the National Theater of Genoa, who recited Montale’s poems.
Esperanto was born from an idea of โโLuca Falomi, a young and eclectic guitarist and composer, and from his collaboration with Riccardo Barbera, double bass player and multifaceted and creative composer. To complete the ensemble Rodolfo Cervetto, a drummer of rare sensitivity and creativity, immediately in tune with the nature of the project.
The name of the project is inspired by the international language of the same name created in the late 1800s by the union of idioms of Latin, Romance, Germanic, Slavic and Eastern origin, and the creation of new words from these.
The language of the trio is author’s instrumental music in which, as in the Esperanto language, different languages โโmeet, from Jazz to World Music through experimental and avant-garde music. Melody and improvisation find their space within compositions that distance themselves from clichรฉs and synthesize new sound words and musical worlds.
