Video – The Compaq Laptop, the Fish and the Monty Python

Yes, the title says “The Compaq Laptop, the Fish and the Monty Python“, and no, it’s not a biblical parable. Also because in those days there was an abundance of fish (it seems it could be multiplied at will or almost), while there is no evidence of portable computers in the Old Testament. Nor in the New. Or at least I think… but let’s move on.

In the late 1980s, John Cleese of Monty Python (a group of nice English programmers who for their own reasons programmed only in Python – hence the name), shot a series of commercials for Compaq Computer Corporation, in his own way. In this one in particular he tells us about Compaq Portable II and the fish… which actually could not hold a candle to the laptop, also because it was pretty dead… especially after that Mega Bite. (Er… sorry).

Also, the Compaq laptop had a handle, which desktops didn’t have and don’t even have nowadays… let alone fishes.
