Emily Blunt announces a break from acting

Emily Blunt has announced that she will be taking a break from her acting career this year in order to prioritize spending more time with her family. The British actress is married to fellow actor John Krasinski and has two daughters.

When asked about managing her career while being a mother, Blunt admitted that she often struggles to find a balance and never feels like she’s doing it perfectly. However, she stated that this year she will not be taking on any acting projects.

Since the birth of her daughters Hazel and Violet in 2014 and 2016 respectively, Blunt has been involved in various film and television projects such as “A Quiet Place,” “A Quiet Place Part II,” “Mary Poppins Returns,” and the TV mini-series “The English.” She also has upcoming projects, including the film “Oppenheimer,” set to be released on July 21, which coincides with the release of the “Barbie” movie.

Blunt explained that her decision to take a break stems from recognizing the importance of being present for her children during their formative years. She mentioned the significance of being there for moments like waking them up, taking them to school, picking them up, and putting them to bed. Blunt expressed a strong desire to prioritize these aspects of her family life.

The actress acknowledged that while she had a fulfilling time working on her projects last year, some were more demanding and time-consuming than others. She expressed that the emotional toll these projects took on herself and her children has led her to seek a better balance in the future. Blunt intends to pursue fewer projects that are intense and require significant time commitments.

Blunt also touched upon the guilt that mothers often feel for desiring pursuits outside of motherhood. She expressed her hope that her children will grow up to find something they are passionate about.

In a lighter note, Blunt revealed that she now resides in the same New York building as her co-star from “Oppenheimer,” Matt Damon, and his wife, Luciana Barroso. She humorously mentioned Damon’s habit of always being seen in his slippers and complimented both Damon and Barroso for their laid-back nature and beauty.
